Here is an excerpt from a testimony my wife wrote about our youngest, Abagail. God works wonders!!
Our youngest daughter Abagail had went to the doctor for her routine well baby check in October and received a good report. During the month that proceeded, she had developed a few problems, one of which we thought was a dry skin rash. After dealing with the other issues of reflux, we took her to see her pediatrician the Monday after Thanksgiving. During the visit, I showed her the rash. Immediately, the doctor told us this was not an ordinary rash but a condition called petechiae (bleeding under her skin). At that pint, they began to do blood work; finding that her blood platelet count extremely low. Normal platelet count should be between 150,000 and 450,000. That day, Abagail’s count was only 17,000. The diagnosis they gave her was ITP. Simply put, ITP was a disorder where the blood platelet count in a person falls below the normal for reasons doctors do not know. (Blood platelets make your skin clot.) They took a sample of blood and sent it off for further testing to confirm the diagnosis of ITP was correct. Those test results came back with no traces of leukemia or other types of cancer. (Thank you God.) We were instructed to not allow Abagail to fall since she could do serious damage. That was very challenging seeing she was 13 months old and started walking.
With this diagnosis, it started a week of daily doctor visits to see if her body would correct itself. After a week, her body had not corrected itself. Another pediatrician recommended proceeding with medical treatment. We took Abagail straight from the doctor’s office to the hospital where she would get treatment and stay over night.
During this time, we continued to trust that the healing, miracle working power of God would bring healing to our daughter. The pastors and leaders at Cherry Hill, family and friends continued to pray and believe with us. Our faith in God would not be shaken.
After the treatment, her platelet count came up to 107,000. We thought this was great news. We began to thank God for the answer to many prayers coming forth. That Friday, she needed to return to the Pediatricians office for another check. The blood work showed the platelet counted had dropped to around 90,000. They were not real worried, but needed to do weekly check-ups. Through the month of December we continued to take her to weekly appointments. The platelet count finally stabilized around 70,000. During this whole time, we continued to pray, fast and believe God’s word that says by the stripes of Jesus she was healed.
At the end of December, the pediatrician and we felt she would be safe going for about a month without being checked. At the end of January, she returned for a regular check up. We believed in faith she was totally healed. The platelet count had come up to around 90,000 but that was still low. (We knew God had a total healing for her, not just enough to keep her out of danger.) We scheduled another follow up for two months later.
Upon returning to the pediatricians in March, the young nurse who had developed a great report with Abagail requested she draw the blood. After only being gone a few minutes she come back in the room excited. She told us the platelet count was 350. I thought in my spirit, that’s not right. She looked at me and said that’s 350,000. The first words out of my mouth were, “Thank you God.” God did just bring the platelet count to just barely enough, but a little above average.
A couple of side notes need to be made. During this six month challenge, Abagail met and exceeded all developmental mild stones for her age. God kept his hand on her and brought her through the ordeal. We are thankful for those who stood in faith and prayer with us. Through faith, prayer, fasting of our family, the church and friends God‘s answered arrived. To this day, she is a healthy, vibrant toddler. During this process, we were reminded of the prophet Daniel in Daniel chapter 10. As soon as Daniel prayed, God had commissioned the answer. The answered was delayed in the spirit realm. God’s answer finally arrived for Daniel then and arrived for our daughter Abagail in March. Thank you Jesus for who you are.
