Charles Rousey Sr – 70

Rest in the arms of the Lord Dad, I will see you soon….

Charles A. “Al” Rousey, Sr., 70 of Batesville, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 22 at the Waters in Batesville.

Born January 7, 1939 in North Vernon, he is the son of Edith (Kelly) and John Rousey. He married Luella Massett on Dec. 3, 1983 in Greensburg. Al served in the Army before being discharged in November of 1963 and began working for the Batesville Casket Company, retiring in 2001 after 38 years as a die case operator.

Although he didn’t have a lot of hobbies, Al thoroughly enjoyed bowling and watching sporting events. An avid bowler, he belonged to several leagues and his wife commented that “Al loved to bowl so much he probably could go non-stop and never get tired of it.” Always a sports fan, in later years when his health became an issue, he liked to watched football, basketball or baseball on television. Al also rarely missed an I.U. basketball game on the radio during the Bobby Knight years. His family fondly recalls two strong traits that shaped his character. Al was always young at heart and had a knack for making people laugh and did not speak negatively about others. Some may not know, but he was a former pastor at Laughery Bridge Church.

He is survived by his wife Luella; sons Charles Rousey Jr., of Georgia, Michael Rousey of Bloomington; step-daughter Bobbi Jo James of Hamilton, Ohio; brother Frank Rousey Sr. of Greensburg; sisters Loretta Hajney of Anderson, Mary DeMaree of New Point; half sisters Rosie Croddy of New Point, Carolyn Walke of Batesville; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sister Etta Rousey.

Praise the Lord!

The times we are living in are increadible. Jesus was totally right on the money in Matthew 24 when He described the world you and I would find ourselves in. The last days are definately here, some would say the last of the last days. The clock is almost 11:59:59 seconds, right before the rapture of His church. Many have thought that the rapture and the second coming are the same event, but I submit the following thoughts today as something to think about:

- The rapture will happen suddenly, the Bible describes it “as in a twinkling of an eye” (I Cor 15:52). It will be sudden and without warning. The second coming however the Bible describes “as lightning shineth from the east to the west every eye shall see Him” (Matt 24:27).

- The rapture will take place at the time the Lord wills, no man knows the time or the hour (Matt 25:13). However the day of the Lord will be announced from heaven before it happens (Rev 19:11, Rev 1:7).

- After the rapture, the antichrist will reign upon his earthly kingdom for seven years (Dan 9:26-27), while after the second coming of Christ he will rule and reign for 1000 years (Rev 20:4)

- During the rapture, Christ will not touch the earth (I Thes 4:17), but when the second coming takes place He will place His foot upon the Mt of Olives and it will split in two, with fresh water coming from the midst. From there He will take a seat in His temple and rule/reign for 1000 years (Zec 14:4).

I think from pointing out these simple truths about both the Rapture and the Second Coming of Jesus to rule and reign as king it is obvious just by simple deduction that these events must be separate. Finally, it is only possible with scripture to indicate that the rapture takes place BEFORE the second coming because of this fact:

- In the rapture, we shall be caught UP with Him in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air (I Thes 4:17). During the second coming, He comes riding on a white horse and the armies which are in heaven in fine linen, white and clean (Rev 19:8,11-14, Jud 1:14).

So, its very safe to say that if the saints are coming back with Him in fine linen, white and clean, then they would have to be in heaven before that. The only way that would happen is if the rapture takes place.

Pray about what I have presented, think about it also. We are coming to a conclusion in church history. LIFT UP YOUR HEADS, for your redemption draws nigh (Lu 21:28).
